For fans of high school dramedies filled with quirky, lovable characters, comes a comic all about love, acceptance, and navigating the chaos of high school—while keeping your secrets safe. With his rainbow-colored hair and love of all things fashion, Arcus is anything but your average teenager. It’s the start of his sophomore year and Arcus is still trying his best to make lasting friendships (especially with Maud), pass math class, and keep his secret fashion blogger identity concealed, all while staying true to his unique sense of self.
Between hijinks at the zoo, sweet coming-out moments, and a whole lot of unrequited crushes, there’s never a dull moment at Apollo High. Everything is leading up to prom at the end of the year, where all the misunderstandings of the year will come to light, and Arcus and his classmates realize they still have a lot to discover about themselves. This volume collects Season 2 (episodes 43 to 88) of the charming WEBTOON comic Acception.

For fans of high school comedy drama with quirky, lovable characters, this is a comic from debut author Colourbee about love, acceptance, and surviving high school (while keeping your secrets intact). It’s the start of a new school year at Apollo High and Arcus just moved from England to the Netherlands. With his rainbow-colored hair and love of all things fashion, Arcus is anything but your average teenager. He’s an upbeat independent thinker, proud fashionista, and like the rest of us, is looking for a few friends to call his own. This won’t be easy for Arcus, because his best options for friends are prickly goth Maud and self-centered queen bee Iris.
Plus, he has to navigate being bullied for his unique brand of self-expression while balancing school life and his secret identity as a super popular fashion designer and blogger. But leave it to the always-optimistic Arcus to find the silver (and glittery) lining in everything. This volume collects Season 1 (episodes 1 to 42) of the charming WEBTOON comic Acception.

Follow the scientists who are studying animals and the germs that attack them. From fungus-ridden frogs with fevers to bacteria-resistant buzzards and everything in-between, animals have a LOT to teach us about infections. But –reader beware!! — the story of germs is filled with twists and turns.
In this fascinating, highly visual nonfiction book packed with colorful, comic-style art, you’ll discover not only the cool ways that animal bodies (and our bodies) fight back against pesky pathogens, but also the amazing and surprising ways we can learn to work together with germs. Sick! The Twists and Turns Behind Animal Germs is written by Heather L. Montgomery with graphic novel-style art from Lindsey Leigh.

Reviews
“Keeping her tone conversational, occasionally relying on anthropomorphizing, and framing her stories as mysteries, Montgomery makes even the most complex concept concrete and digestible–young readers won’t just understand the microbiology at play; they’ll enjoy the subject too. Illustrations throughout also enhance clarity as well as (especially in short comic panels) keeping the book fun. A pathologically good time.”
“Exhilarating case studies of science and of scientists in action . . . [and] a convincing argument for thinking about our relationship with our teeming microbial neighbors.”
– Booklist
“Visually engaging and with approachable text, Sick! is chock-full of super interesting information about animals and is recommended for middle school science collections.”

Crawl into the deepest corners of caves across the world and learn about the wonderfully weird creatures that live their lives in the dark! Did you know that some creatures that live in the dark have adapted to have no eyes? Or that some dark dwellers have extra long antennae so they can feel their way around their homes? Have you ever seen a troglobite?
Author-illustrator Lindsey Leigh introduces young readers to some of the weirdest and creepiest critters that thrive in the darkest corners of our planet in her uniquely funny and graphic style. This fact-filled book reveals the different ways that creatures of the dark have adapted to thrive in their environments, including slow movement and loss of pigment in their bodies to blend in with their surroundings. Readers will get to know aquatic cave leeches, tailless whip scorpions, cave beetles, the devil’s hole pupfish, worms, salamanders, and all kinds of bats.

“As factually grounded as it is irresistibly fun.”
– Kirkus starred review
“In this droll but scientifically rigorous expedition into the depths, Leigh introduces dozens of creatures representing the “Three Ts” of cave dwellers: troglobites, or permanent residents; troglophiles, who venture out occasionally; and trogloxenes like bats, who just visit.”

“Don’t be surprised if your kids want to head out to a cave and explore on their own after reading this one!”

“My personal philosophy is that there are plenty of cuddly and charismatic animals that are universally loved, and people wouldn’t think twice about supporting their conservation efforts. But there are plenty of lesser known, perhaps less visually gifted animals that deserve our attention and support as well.”

Life at home is so unbearable that these kids will risk their lives and face colossal challenges to escape to the United States and find safety. This book tells the true stories of five brave teens fleeing their home countries of Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, and Guinea, on their own, traveling through unknown and unfriendly places, and ultimately crossing into the US to find refuge and seek asylum. Based on extensive interviews with teen refugees, lawyers, caseworkers, and activists, Tracy White shines a light on five individual kids from among the tens of thousands of unaccompanied minors who enter the US each year. In stark black and white illustrations, she helps us understand why some young people would literally risk their lives to seek safety in the US. Each one of them has been backed into a corner where emigration to the US seems like their only hope.

Reviews
“Spare, striking, black-and-white illustrations portray five teens fleeing dangerous situations and making hazardous journeys to the U.S. . . . This fast-paced, relatable work is informative and enlightening, treating its subjects with respect. Powerful text and images honor young people’s suffering and strength.”
