A misfit crew of heroes-in-training contend with a crafty ogre and a cunning thief—neither of whom are quite who they appear to be—in a fun and funny world dubbed “hilarious, whimsical epic adventure” by Hilo creator Judd Winick. High-stakes action blends with laugh-out-loud humor in a story with themes of self-acceptance, betrayal and forgiveness, and the power of friendship. Punycorn—the world’s clumsiest unicorn—is officially an apprentice hero, complete with the laminated membership card to prove it!
Together with a dragon who can’t breathe fire and a dung beetle with delusions of grandeur, Punycorn is on a mission to save a friend. Along the way, the trio battle a vain and decidedly dimwitted warlord and their own self-doubts, and they find an unexpected ally in a legendary female robber who secretly feeds the poor. Big heroes come in small packages in this comedic and heartwarming delight by multi-Eisner Award–nominated graphic novelist Andi Watson.

Andi Watson was born and raised in Kippax, a small town in Yorkshire, England. He spent half his life playing outdoors with his brother and friends, and the other half reading, drawing and watching TV. (School apparently played a minor role.) Andi’s original career goal was to become a car mechanic. Eventually, he realized he had no interest in cars, which would have made him a rather poor car mechanic. So he went to art school in Liverpool instead. There, he rediscovered comics, made one himself, and continued to make more. Approximately 50 more, published by Dark Horse, Slave Labor Graphics, Walker Books, Oni Press, Image Comics, Marvel, Top Shelf, Çà et Là, Roaring Brook Press, Random House Graphic…but who’s counting? His most recent books include The Book Tour, Kerry and the Knight of the Forest, and Glister. He lives in Worcester with his wife and daughter and a lot of books. “These are beautiful books. Haru is at all times moving, funny, exciting and sad, a thrillingly epic story which still manages to keep its focus small and personal. Fascinatingly complex characters lurching, running, and chasing across beautifully painted pages, a journey not just through a richly conceived world, but through the hearts and souls of everyone in it.
